Om Mani Padme Hum (via Michæl Paukner)
Seriously. Gorgeous. Check out the whole set.
It’s funny, but seeing all these graphics together reminded me of one of the epiphanies I had regarding religion: The more I learned about other religions, the more I realized mine was as equally non-sensical as the others. I mean really? Mankind’s first offense and they get punished to death by a ‘loving’ and ‘compassionate’ god? Then god decides that he’ll forgive mankind, but first he has to send his son to die a horrible death to redeem them? And then, how does one person’s few days of torture even begin to make up for all the lifetimes of agony billions suffer and have suffered because this god decided to punish the one sin of his original creation? One wrong move, bam, billions of people consigned to misery and agony.
Bullshit. It doesn’t even begin to make any kind of sense at all. I don’t know how they convince anyone of this and worse, that this god loves them. If this were true, he’s guilty of astonishing pettiness and capriciousness, unbecoming a supreme being.
